1993 Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt

And done… trimmed and tidied up with a file and sandpaper. Cut a little longer than stock in case I use with Powerlite forks as the stock length is a tad short with the thick drop-outs.

Also rubbed down the one lever that had what looked like "water" marks on the black finish.

I couldn't resist. After seeing the Judy FSX on banshee's RekTek Ti, i had to get a set myself. Guess this will be a back-up for the Marz XC600 if i'm not keen on how it rides. Or perhaps to be used on a future build.

some more fiddling with Ringle stuff. picked up some seat binder reproduction parts off Vinevo, and some seat binder m6 barrel nuts from elite504. As well as a SS rod that the seller offered pre-cut off ebay. thanks to elite504 for receiving and forwarding everything to me. ;)

original parts on the silver lever in the middle. need to get the parts for the red seat binder anodized. :)

with some nice weather today, I decided to quickly throw on a single front brake w/ lever, chain and lock up the f/r mech so I can take the bike for a quick spin so I could finally get a feel of how it would ride. have to say even though it's not finished, it felt great. 8)

though i'll be going with canti brakes, have to say the colour of the XTR m960 v-brakes go well with the rest of the bike.

excited and looking forward to when I finally finish this build.

 i can be quite impulsive at times. think i overspent on these but i couldn't resist. originally thought i'd be getting these for my blue/white themed Brodie Sovereign. but now since the rim profile is near identical to Mavic 230s, i think i'll swap these onto the NukeProof hubs for the Thunderbolt.

i've bought rims and had them shipped to me before, but never have them come in a custom built wood box!

what are ppls thoughts on thse NOS Sun CR17a rims for the TB???

I personally like the current rims versus the Suns for the TB.
if you are referring to the wheelset that's on the bike for most of the pics, those are a set of 9spd XT m750 hubs (with an 8psd cassette) laced to a set of grey Mavic X517. The hubs I want to use are a set NukeProof Ti and they are currently laced to silver Mavic 230 SBP rims. as mentioned prev, the rear rim has a flat spot so I was hunting for a set of grey/blue rims (Mavic 220/222/X517) but haven't had much success. :(

8) some updates finally…

grips and gripshift covers prob not final. need some new brake pads, or at least clean up the old ones. waiting to get some cable outer ferrules to put things together. :?
