1993 Raleigh Peak

Mudguards off (keeping the colour coded reflectors for now) and new tube on the front (tyre perished but better than nothing), fitted karma rear wheel & shed find tyre. Replaced skewers with some tidy joytech ones from the parts bin, which look right, rear was missing and original front was well rusty.

Gave it a wash. Sadly the decals have completely had it, came off with soapy water so just not worth saving. I’ve so far resisted the temptation to completely remove them all.

All I really need to get it ridable at this stage is a cassette. Got plenty of chains, sure I can find a functional saddle, and amazingly although the cables are all old looking everything seems to be working pretty well.

I like it!

Very nice. Paintwork looks to be in good order. See you've rid it of all the decals except the name.

Some new info on the K2 tubing here:-

Cool, yep seen that thread, interesting stuff.

As mentioned above unfortunately the decals just slid off during washing...nothing I could do to save them. On the plus side, as you say, paint’s not bad.

Can someone clarify the difference between Raleigh the Original English bike manufacturer and Raleigh USA?

I like this Peak, by the same token Raleigh USA had a top model also called Technium Peak made in 91 and 92.

Found a cassette!
Found a chain!
Found a saddle!
Found 2 valve caps.
Liberally doused all the moving parts in wd40!
Went over it with an oily rag!
Tweaked this and that!
Rode it round the garden!

Pretty cool. Seems a good climber.

Neighbour just asked if I do his for a living.

I love the colour - didn't think I would, but I do. Is that a shop sticker at the top of the seat tube?

“Supplied by Clive Mitchell, Truro”

Some more history on the BB shell.

If I didn’t like the colour I wouldn’t have come this far!
