1993 marin bobcat trail

Evening guy's, this is my first post so go easy!

I've just acquired a 1993 Marin Bobcat trail. I purchased it as a cheap ride to work and just to knock around on, i was planning up updating a few bits here and there but am now having 2nd thoughts

The bike is in absolutely A1, original condition, original tyres, brakes, saddle, everything!! Less than 100 miles from new and kept inside!

I've had a scout around on hear and it seems Marin is a bit of a love 'em or hate 'em brand and prob not worth a great deal but I just wanted to check with the retro experts that I'm not spoiling a gem by 'upgrading' some parts.

Just after a rough idea of value in this condition?

maybe my Eldridge can give you an answer to your question.
Check it out and see what happens when you upgrade an old Marin.
Some peeps will like it and some won't.
There can only be one good advice. Do what you like!

my thoughts, if it is a1 and nothing needs replacing, sell it as it is and buy something else that is in need of some new bits. i know the bobcat is fairly low end (not being rude, i have one too) but i do know i would rather mine were original rather than all the upgraded parts that have gone onto it.

i'm not telling you what to do though, itsa your bike and you should enjoy it how you want it. just keep hold of the original stuff you take off then you can always put it back on

This is exactly what I was thinking Lewis, perhaps get a higher spec bike but not so 'original' for the same money. I just want something nice & usable on the road that I dont have to worry too much about. Would you have any idea of value? I have NO idea, could be £3-£300 for all know!

to my mind, its functional value far outweighs its resale. On a good day you'll still get under £100. Collectors and enthusiasts want exotics. As a daily rider it's a great, functional bike which is a go-anywhere, do-anything machine - perfect for commuting and no financial calamity if it gets nicked.
