1993 Kona Hot - Red fade.

So this was a pretty cool find. I was watching one of the recent links that @sefton1275gt posted of the 1993 7Up Sponsored Nationals, and at around [7m25s] entered Kona sponsored rider Chris Horsfield, on what looked like a very similar two-tone Kona frame and matching 'Kona Orange' jersey!

After almost spitting out my tea, I decided to try get in touch to find out more and Chris was pretty awesome in replying to give the following information, See also supplied pic of his present wall mounted Kona race jersey in the pic below.

Chris confirmed that he rode for Kona / Langsett, who some of you might know, then went on to sponsor Steve Peat before he rode for Kona.

Some extracts from our exchange in communications below:

"If had the same fade, it was half orange but dark grey metallic on the front. It was painted by a company called Dream Machine and the letters where hand painted letters, so it looked like mountain tops within the writing if you ever get a side view of what it was.."
"..It was a Kona Explosive underneath the paint and I think it had my name painted on the top tube.. later sold to someone in Sheffield. I ran a 52 chain ring in the front.."
".. the Langsett Cycles team was built around me originally as I came from BMX and knew them from the sport first and then I got on the Kona team in England and got Steve his first ride with Langsett and then onto the Kona team"
"We ran rockshox or whatever sponsor we had that year for forks, my cross country bike was a titanium hei hei and unfortunately no I never kept any of them"

Steve then went onto to ride for Sunn team before finishing up riding for Stiff Santa Cruz from Leeds..
