1993 Kona Cinder Cone restoration

Dirt Disciple
I recently bought an 1993 Kona Cinder Cone for £40. It has been used as a winter bike in Oslo and looks awful. Full of rust and the paint is falling of in pieces. Going to sand it down and repaint, any ideas regarding what colour I should choose?

Re:

Managed to remove the stem and fork after a lot of persuasion and penetrating oil, the amount of dirt iside the steerer tube was amazing.... The seat post is completely stuck, will try som more before cutting it. The bike is now in the garden shed awaiting better weather...

Hi!

That is going to be great project! If it were me I would chose '94. Cinder Cone paint scheme, like this one viewtopic.php?f=6&t=59096.

Have been thinking about some shade of blue, but perhaps a lighter shade. Have also looked at the orange 94 colour and now my wife suggested lime green, to many options....

Since the Cinder Cone is now in the shed, the 1996 AA is the daily "driver". When the Cinder Cone is done, I will do up the AA as well. But with two kids, a house that needs a lot of work and of course work as well, it will take some time.

Have changed the Curve crank for XT, the V brakes for XT cantis and the mismatched shifters for STI XT.

Great project. Think I’d stick with the original colour it’s pretty rare.

Dont think that I am going to keep it original. Got 3 options now, green, orange or light blue.

The seatpost is stuck in the frame. Any suggestions on how to remove it without damaging frame or post?

The best way is to type in the search bar (top right of the forum page) 'Stuck Seat Post'' there's lots of bedtime reading in there! Good Luck.. ;)
