1993 khs montana pro UPDATE 13/3/10

Beautiful bike :). I also remember lusting after them back in the day! Something about the tube lengths and angles just looks 'right'.

I know it's tempting to put the rigids back on but the way I see it is that if, BITD, you could have afforded to change to suspension forks, you probably would have done  .

That's the way I think about it with my Dave Yates and the Pace forks. The Kona proj 2s have been wall art for the last few years...

Cheers guys. 6.5- you are right and i discussed that today on the ride. It is definately a period upgrade. They just look so good with rigid forks and with my weight they don.t move much anyway!

Jonah, i'd definately think twice about selling. They don.t fetch a huge amount but they are awesome frames.

Really pleased i made the effort to ride it today. I've been riding my on one single speed a lot recently so it was great to remind myself of what this site is all about.

Bars seen really narrow though! More pics soon.

First proper mountain bike I ever bought was a KHS Montanna Descent. Bought it in 88 from Singapore and brought it back to the UK. Great bike, wished I had kept it now
Picture of it BITD are posted in the "Introduce yourself" bit of the forum.
If ever you get rid can I join the queue please?

sorry robster , missed your post somehow!

quick update.

my rear gear cable has kinked so i have done the obvious thing and stripped the bike down.

it is going back to single speed, at least for the winter.

possibly going rigid fork too

Re:

Nice bike!

I too have a minty, almost totally original '93/94 Montana Pro that I've rigged up as my road-goer. From experience (having a set of polished R/Shox Mags on another bike) ... you'll need to clear-coat them right after a final buffing/polish, or they will always eventually (fairly quickly, acutally) tarnish to a dull mess again.

Cheers!
