Re:
My first was an rts-2 back in 92/3. At £1500 it was pretty expensive, and only came with Quadra forks and lx group set. Still, was a lovely bike. The team or rts-1 was simply off the scale and unreachable for me then.
When I went to uni, it gathered dust for years and when I came to dust it down and use it again, I found it had cracked at the bb pivot. Gutted, but searching for advice on repair landed me here.
Since then, many bikes gave come and gone, but I scored a nos team rts frame which I'll never part with. More bikes have come and gone, but every now and again I tinker with my team build.
Currently it's awaiting a rebuild, replacing the front forks is next, have some nos Sid world cups (09 ish) with v mounts. Then to fit avid ultimate v brakes and mod a spare set of seat stays to remove the canti mounts for a cleaner look. Rear piggy back is going to be swapped out for a risse unit (new, but basic, trying to decide whether to try and rebuild it with adjustable damping as I've a non-rts version. No idea how though).
Last decision is whether to fit some spin wheels, spinergy xyclones or stick with ceramic crossmax. Did I say last? Toying with changing the m952 cranks over to some nos caramba sidewinders in black, but then the rest of the grey m952 bits won't match.......
When you get yours, are you planning a period build or something different. I've rebuilt mine using various groupsets, and it wears them all well. I'd never go original/period rs forks, they look too weedy against the frame imho.
Looking forward to seeing another one on here. Good luck with yours.
