1993 Condor Cadenza

1978

I spotted a lovely Condor on eBay which I felt was in need of rescue. It’s immaculate but it had been fitted with some modern components that I felt needed to go.

As purchased:

I emailed Condor who confirmed that it was a “Cadenza” and was probably from 1993.

I can’t find an online version of their 1993 brochure, but the 1996 bike looks very similar. It’s fillet brazed Colombus CROMOR OR with a lugged BB shell.

Image below from the 1996 brochure, this version seems to have a colour matched Kona Project 2 fork, mine has a fillet brazed unicrown.

There is also a very similar bike in the Science Museum in London. That one has a tapered straight blade fork, but is the same colour as mine.

Photos to come…

Dave Yates made quite a lot of frames for Condor in this time period (I have one of his road bike frames from 1993). As mentioned, Dave himself is active on the LFGSS site, which is how I learned that he made mine (and also thanks to @Kempes for the tip). I’m guessing that the seller did the same? As the seller is on here I guess he could confirm that for you.

Anyway, it is lovely. It’ll be nice to see it built up with some period parts, it certainly deserves it.

Thank you, I’ll send him a message.

I have a complete, 1 ride old XT group set that I’m planning to fit, which I think will suit it perfectly.
