Looks like the Expert had the same forks, but a Suntour groupset.
When I bought the bike, it had DX on it, but that doesn't list anywhere.
Cranks were shot, mechs found a new home.

Thanks for that stew What did you use to polish the frame as i may do that yet, if its to hard to keep polished ill just powdar coat it

The bit that I tested was just the finest wet n dry I had with some brasso or T cut on it.

There's been many topics on here regarding polishing, and keeping polished bits looking good.

Right i think i may polish the frame, what i would like to know is will it be ok to start on 1500 wet and dry ?

Small update...

Just purchased a set of retro STI shifters from the bay..

I now have 2 sets of shifters and levers so if i get bored i can change them

Gil_M is the Decal man on here.
Don't know if you've stripped the frame yet, might be worth photos or tracings of the decals that are on it first.

Were the XT shifters I gave you 7 spd? Should have a Shimano M-xxx number on the back to look up.

I may have a 7spd cassette knocking around for you.
