1993 Brodie Catalyst

... Carl Zeiss.

Just found this thread and have really enjoyed reading it through. Cool bike, looking forward to the respray!

Without a doubt a kids bike seat is the best upgrade to any bike.

Still going strong.

Running those beautiful Suntour brake levers, I've never bothered to get the correct ferrules. I've simply wrapped tape around the brake line end caps.
And it started bothering me lately as the tape frayed and is looking miserable.

But not any longer...hopefully.
Thank science there is 3D printing technology!

Pretty impressive with the level of detail you have dedicated to this built.

This might have been asked to you before but how are the suntour xc pro levels performing with the V-brakes?

I have a Brodie myself and was pondering on the combination too.

Once I tried XT Canti break levels with XT V brakes and this just didn't work at all good. The breaking was too much for the V brakes to take and the stopping power was so sharp that was making the combo almost outright dangerous to use if you weren't used to it.

Anyhow, it seems that's working for you!

Thanks!

I like powerful brakes a lot and yes this setup is a bit grabby. But I'm used to that due to running either Shigura (Shimano brake lever, Magura caliper) or Saint 4pot disc brake calipers on most of my other bikes.

This setup is consistent and powerful. Nothing more to want from them. The shorter leverage makes for less room between pads and rim, though. So the wheels need to run true.
Brake boosters and proper brake line outers help to keep the bite point crisp.

Colours aside, the machined dropouts of the forks work well with the Hügi hub.

Other than that I will be changing the dropper post for a Thomson Elite post, as I am not using the dropper post much.

Cranks will be changed for black XT ones + SG-X 46t chainring, Campagnolo C9 chain and new 12-28 cassette. I might decide to install different pedals.

The Syncros BB is running smooth and light.
