Re:

So the freewheel is proving tricky. TNT did put some of their sprockrts on a shimano dura ace freewheel but doesn't look like there were any american freewheel manufacturers. An acceptable compromise maybe to use a european freewheel, ie Sachs or Regina

Didn’t some of the American companies such as White Industries source some gearing/rings etc from the JEX?
Bit of a weak link to maybe a Suntour or SR freewheel, but possibly more in keeping than a European manufacturer?

Whoa, slick build! Good parts choice especially the Quantum shifters. I have those on my Action Tec F-16. Cool shifters! I‘m really curious how the San An will turn out.

Re:

So pedals next, as I will always be a clipless kind of guy the only American choice other than Ritchey's is Onza's. So bought a job lot of 3 pairs (one set have TI axles and will find the best bits of each pedal to make up a decent pair.

You know thy were made in china... right? :)

I know but the company was American...finding exclusively USA parts would be very tricky and you could always argue that the alloy for most of the USA produced parts was originally produced in China anyway
I know I can be a bit anal, but I'm not that anal
