Yep always remember water first and slowly put the crystals in especially with hot water

mine wasn't boiling just warm as I've read about the heating process .... was I glad I had a broom handle and able to exercise social distancing

surprised at the colour of the Caustic soda afterwards started out as milky white and ended up looking like this

Is this a better way of stripping anodising than using drain cleaner? I've had mixed results with Mr Muscle gloop.

I don't know, as I couldn't get into a supermarket without queuing for an hour I went to the local hardware store and bought this for £3.99 and still have half left

was expecting it to be a liquid but its a fine powder so able to control the strength of the mix / ratio to water

Much better way in my opinion but you have to be careful, gloves, eye protection , and a mask is a good idea. I make up a strong solution and have a bowl of water next to it to neutralise . I only dip for a few seconds then neutralise, wipe down and repeat as you don't want to be leaving alloy in there too long

Re:

Apologies in advance if I’m not keeping up - That hub is bizarre

I’ve never seen a reversible rear - it looks like you could mount TWO freewheels- bit like an old single speed rear with a gear either side

Is that an old but funky mount for rear disc ? The other one looks like a standard rear to me .... or is that the front with the same fitting for a disc ?

Re:

Yep it's a Flip-flop hub beloved of fixies and track bikes ( also BMX's also sometimes use them) , as you can flip them around to change gearing when using single speed. Very very early San An's used Bullseye hubs before Pulstar made them custom hubs. I have managed to source a first Generation Rear Prostop kit ( The only other bikes I have seen them on are Fisher RS1's) but it's stuck in States with my cousin who was supposed to be coming over in June but obviously not now. They used Campag or Phil Wood hubs. Flip flop Bullseye's rearly are as rare as rocking horse poo ( search on Retro BMX sites to see it what regatd they are held). I was very lucky to get this one, hence pooing my pants when I was stripping it.

 you do for the world of weird, wonderful and rare what THM does for aesthetics ......you both take things to new level

on a serious note I'm sure Dan Chambers has a Fisher like you mention with full on Pro Stops front and rear - awesome looking set up, I've always fancied (although I don't like the fork full stop) a set of Bombers with the twin disc by Cullimore engineering although I don't know what I'd do with them as I don't like 99% of DH bikes either

94 Foes LTS, Early San An and the Cannondale Super V 4000 are the only three that would be allowed in

Re:

I've already tapped up Dan for some pictures of his set up (he only has a disc on the rear) so I could get my head around how I could make things work :D .

Cannondale Super V you say........ ;)

Not a 4000 though but a Missy and Myles tribute ala Chainsmoke...when I get around to finishing it (it's not had any attention since I got the Lotus  )
