1992 Rocky Mountain Altitude

A friend of mine raced for Rocky in 92 and had one of these bikes. He asked me if I got the "special edition" small stem with the bike, and confirmed this was the same as his.
I'm not sure if Syncros did this to save weight or to accommodate the bullhorn handlebars.

I agree this bike must have been stored indoors most if the time. Most of my Rockies have a fair amount of patina, so I'm lucky this one was well looked after.
Also, Rocky Mountain clear coated over the decals on all their 92 Altitudes, which helped keep them looking sharp.

They did on the '91 too, well at least mine (or should I say the dekerf's spray painter probably, from what he says).

Not that there is much clearcoat left on the stickers...
 
They did a stellar paintjob those days. My '92 Altitude looks brand new, colours are vibrant, clearcoat still all over the frame. Not bad after a quarter of a century!
