1992 Rocky Mountain Altitude

Here's one of my favourite Rockies. I've been slowly gathering parts for it and just need to do some small paint touch ups. Thanks to eastcoaststeve, I was lucky to get this frame and fork a couple years back. It also came with the original single bolt Syncros stem which I understand were a limited production run they put on the 92 Altitudes. Maybe someone else here can confirm this?

This was one of my dream bikes when I started racing in the early 90s, so I'm pretty excited to see how it rides. :D
My plan is XTR m900 and Syncros, and to build up wheels with XTR/Mavic 231 CD or silver rims.

I've seen and handled 100's of Syncros stem in my lifetime and I've never seen a single bolt.

Very jealous of the mint handlebar you have. Everything I've found has had the decals destroyed. Has the frame been refinished? It also looks mint

My 1991 is going to photobomb your bike (with a 2 bolt stem)

The logos on the handlebar wear off quite easily. This is the probably the best one I have. I've only seen a couple of these stems in photos, they are pretty rare I think.
My frame is original paint and decals. It was well cared for, but does have some paint chips/scrapes in the usual places.
Your 91 Altitude looks really nice and in excellent condition! Well done!

Here's some more photos of the stem:

that's one tidy 92!

i always thought single bolt Syncros stems were road stems.

i had the same bar on my 91 build though screen printing isn't nearly as nice, but still present. it's spare now as i swapped it out for the bar i got on my Nimbus pick-up from last year.

sorted out completing my own 92 altitude over the winter, though it is well used and has plenty of patina. just waiting for warmer/nicer weather to take out all three altitudes (91, 92, 93) to have a trio photo-shoot with them. ;)

looking forward to seeing you build yours up! :D

Re:

Who knows with the stem. The road Altura was definitely around and looked like that, but don't think it was zero rise or had quite the profiled stem section.

First I've seen on an Altitude.

That must have been wrapped up and not used and kept away from any light.
The frames colour fade and that's as bright as a respray. :)
