Why is there a nut behind the booster, it should be a spacer?

I had two narrow spacers but the booster was blocking the movement of the brake, couldn’t find an additional spacer, so whacked a nut in… must put that right…Why is there a but behind the booster, it should be a spacer?![]()

Well that was interesting. Does anyone know of somewhere that can aluminium weld a steerer tube on? I’d hate to lose the original fork. Around the back, there were 9mm of metal still holding it together.
Pace RC35s on for now, the mk1 version, and new tyres- moderns but fat and I use it regularly anyway. Still love this bike so much.
