Re:

Top job.. another one saved!!

I have a '93 variant in my loft that i'm thinking of doing in '92 green when i find the time.

Again, good work.

Just adding to the positive feedback. Looks fantastic and very interested in the build you’ve put together and he weight you’ve achieved- top work

Absolutely cracking bike. Interested to know if you had it re- lacquered. I’ve heard it’s difficult to do but not sure how the decals would stay on otherwise?

I’ve not had it re-lacquered, so I’ll take the risk of decal replacement if ever needed.

Re:

Thanks for all the positive comments :)

I have plumped for some parts I’ve never had before, like the Grafton canti’s, the Middleburn cranks, and that oh so pretty Flite carbon saddle, all of which have helped get the weight under 10kgs

I’ve still got a bit of set-up work to do - I cant get the front mech to throw the chain on to the big ring (there are no pick ups on the inside of the ring) so perhaps there is a bit more movement to come from the mech. If not then I’m not sure what the solution is :?

Just spotted this from your signature. Stunning looking bike, the more Marins I see the more I like them. The Lotus lurking in the background looks pretty cool too.

Cheers ;)
If the weather was better both would get more use

I see you have a couple of Townsends - my first ATB was a Townsend 2000 :)

Are you sure that your b/b fosters the optimum chain-line (47.5 mm, I believe) ... for if not - if it is a tad too long - that would place your big ring too far to the outside, thus negating the mech's ability to 'reach' it.

Gorgeous build, btw!

Sadly I think that may be the case - which means the Royce BB will have to go :(
Anyone know what length BB spindle Middleburn RS-3 cranks require? I didn’t research it!

Re:

I looked a while ago, as I too am currently constructing a Ti build and was almost going to go with Middleburns; and I do believe that they were about the same as M-900 cranks (108 to 112 mm) ... but don't quote me on that, as memory does funny things with each passing week

My frame already had a nos UN-71 b/b installed in it, and while I'd love to replace it with a Ti unit, I really couldn't be all that bothered to do all the work, and pay out all those funds ... just to shave off a palm-full of grams.

Re:

Hmm...well the Royce currently fitted is 113mm, so only marginally long if so - but an extra few mm is all the front mech needs.
