Finished. Really happy with this, to me it looks very purposeful, I can’t wait to get out and thrash it.
It needs a bit of fine tuning on the brakes, but here it is in full.
1992 Robert’s Dogs Bolx with original Forkplay fork. Custom built so I can’t give you a size but it fits me and I’m 6ft
Liberal use of Syncros kit (stem, handlebars, seatpost and of course Revolution crankset and bottom bracket.
Brakes are Grafton maglites with white Koolstop pads and Grafton stop sign and fat finger hangers. Levers are Dia Compe SS5.
Wheels are Ringle Superbubba/Supereight hubs on Mavic Ceramic rims and Repro Panaracer Smoke/Dart tyres.
Front and rear mechs are XTR M900, controlled by XT thumbshifters
Other tasty bits include a Chris King Gripnut headset, Ringle Holey skewers and a 1992 Flite a titanium Saddle. Pedals are XT. The chain is a lovely NOS Sachs SC-M90 Powerglide.
I’ve not weighed it yet but for a steel bike it feels pretty lightweight.
This bike was commissioned in December 1991 and built in 1992 and then spent a large bit of its life not being ridden. So it’s a very good condition frameset.
I have built it like this to ride. It’s made to be used and to work faultlessly, I just need to dial in the brakes a bit more.
What do you think?
