1991 Trek 970 - Lovely resto starts here…

I did buy a mint 100% original Trek 7000 from this catalogue in the late 90s and used it as a training MTB in London whilst I kept my race MTB back in Wales (I only had a motorbike at the time). They were great underrated bikes with lovely handling. I think this particular year all the top bikes looked super cool and had great paint jobs.

Lovely back story to this. Coming across things you built/prepped , a long time ago , can make you all fuzzy inside. I have been lucky to have had that happen a couple of times with racing cars. The latter do tend to have seen alot of different hands working on them, though, over decades , and it is a bit like looking at the rings in a tree and you might have to look hard to see your own work.

Yes the paint jobs circa 1990-1992 were some of the best era. Always liked the Trek range from this time, but never got one as I had Peugeots / Raleigh’s. I missed out but now
