1991 Specialized Epic

Seb Clawhammer

Retro Newbie
Selling on behalf of a friend - bike's nearly as old as me!

The frame is a 1991 Specialized Epic (one of the first ones as far as I remember) and it belonged (and still does) to John North. He raced it back in '93 and '94 here in the UK, winning the National Champs on it both times. Since then he's kept it in a heated loft for the last 14 years so as you can imagine the bike is in excellent condition!!

It's the carbon frame with steel lugs (not the Ultimate with Ti lugs), size medium too, made in the States.

It's all original spec apart from the XT rear mech and the new Kenda Small Block 8 tyres on there. The rest of the spec is completely original, all came on the bike when he built it up back in '93. Full XTR groupset including brakes and headset (apart from the rear mech), Hope hubs, Pace RC35 forks, Ti bars and stem (John can't remember the exact brand, thinks it was Titec? Decals have worn down, do have a seperate pic of the bars from which I've been trying to make out the brand but having no luck!). Also has the original Shimano XT pedals on too!

Now this bike is nearly as old as me so I'm afraid I don't know a huge amount more about the bike, if you have any questions then let me know and I'll try get an answer from John for you. The bike is currently in Biketreks in Ambleside if you would like to view it too, however the sale is nothing to do with the shop, it's just John is a very good friend of the shop and I'm selling it on behalf of him.

He's currently after £700 for it as it really is in fantastic condition for such a bike!

I do have plenty of photos of the bike, just send me a message on here and I'll email you them across, failing that if you're up in the Lake District the bike is in Biketreks in Ambleside.

Any questions then please let me know

Pete

Hi. Off topic....but did/does Biketreks have a policy of placing it's name on the rear wheel of the bikes it sells? I ask because I acquired an Explosif via ebay a few years ago from a vendor in the Lakes. Biketreks is spelt out in individual letters between the spokes.
