1991 Shogun Trail breaker 2

Re:

Nice!

My first MTB was the Shogun TB3 from about a year before with paint splatter finish and 400lx that went through all sorts of not vert cost effective upgrades over time.

Those decals bring back great memories.

Ace to see this.

I’ve had this since the mid 90’s and it will be getting a full service and rebuild soon. I’ve just joined this forum as I was searching for info about the trailbreaker’s.

Hi, nice looking Shogun! I can't really offer any detailed advice about these bikes, but they do seem to come up for sale near me every so often, I've seen a few Trailbreaker 2's as well, which I guess is a later model

Thankyou, I like many others saved all summer to get the bike as a kid. Looked after it then when I left home put it in the shed and I’m happy that it only has light surface rust, will be looking at upgrading the group set - it’s 18 speed to something of stronger quality. Wider tyres and some additional lights, as I enjoy evening rides.
I am very happy with it after nearly 30 years.

Well dang you got rid of it. I bought this exact same bike in 1991 while in college at Lechmere for $299. I thought that was a good deal at the time for a chromoly frameset and shimano components. Rode it all through undergrad then brought it with me to Indiana U. for grad school. I put a ton of miles on that bike. I wouldn't mind picking up another one in good condition like this.
