Hello all. Having got my collection down to just a couple of bikes I seem to have acquired a garage full again!
This little belter came about after an idle bid I'd forgotten about came through. I was at work when my phone told me I'd won a bike and I literally had no idea what I'd bid on.
Anyway, after a trip up to Durham following a night shift I've ended up with this Marin Bolinas. Not sure what year it is as it looks just like a 1989/90 Muirwoods but with different kit. I always liked the fluro Muirwoods as it was reviewed in the first MBUK I bought and even though the spec was lower then the Tufftrax I actually bought the colour nearly sold one to me. Add to this that in the same MBUK as the Muirwoods test was an article about the Marin race team on which they rode fluro Pine Mountains the colour scheme became a classic in my mind and is why I was drawn to this.
It's a curious bike as although I'm sure it's very low end the frame is actually Tange, like the 1990 Palisades and Bear Valley. I'm sure the 1990 Muirwoods was Hi-Ten steel?
Turns out it's in superb original condition with the paint work bright and unfaded. Best part is that the Marin ProCombo tyres are in great nick which unfortunately means they'll migrate to the Pine Mountain pictured. Unsure what it's fate will be after that as it's far too small for me but I might stick it in the loft until my lad can ride it or donate it to my friends child.
It needs a good clean first though. Once I've cleaned it up I'll post some 'after' pics. Under the grime is an old, basic bike in great condition. Just how I like 'em.
