Keep original with the lowly 300LX or go full beans and give it a 1x and v-brakes etc?

Personally I'd leave it as is, it's only original once etc, and in that kind of condition you basically have yourself a new bike, early 90s shimano LX, even 300 is more than enough. I'd give it a full service, regrease the bearings, check the cables and brake blocks etc then ride the shit out of it.

Agreed, I gave it a service and took it out for a blast out near my house this evening to see how it rides. I'll be keeping it as is and will add M735 XT kit as and when parts come my way. I'll have to swap the bars out for a wider one though, that's a definite. Having 530mm bars is not for me!

Anyway, not at all bad for £50!

I know right! The paint is actually light grey... I'll get some better pics on a ride in the next day or so and post them
