1991 Kestrel CS-X Build - lots of weight weenies - Done pg 5

Re: 1991 Kestrel CS-X Build - lots of retro weight weenies listings

This build is all kinds of awesome! Superb effort! And an awesome build-thread too, with the weights comparisons and parts selection rationale process well described!

Did I mention the word 'awesome' enough? :D

Thanks! I was hoping it be on the trail by now but I got fancy with the wheels and now it's dragging longer. Hopefully worth the wait :)

Long wait for these but they are great and light!

NOS Suntour XC Pro hubs on NOS mavics with DT butted spokes and new NukeProof Skewers. They come in 244g lighter than my already light ringle/mavic wheelset. The bike is flirting with sub 20lbs now. Time to finish it off :D

Re:

Essentially done. Gil is making me some Kestrel decalsl to go on the fork.

Turned out pretty well I think. Looks mean, has a ton of Ti and high end bits, and it's light. I was hoping for 21-22 lbs and got 20.4 :) I had sub 20 for the taking but it would have compromised the ride and look.

I'll get it out to a ride this week and do a better photo shoot later on.

Re: 1991 Kestrel CS-X Build - lots of weight weenies - Done-ish

A few shots from the first ride. So far so good. This is my first Suntour bike and I must say ... I like the XC Pro thumbies better than any shimanos :) Much better feel IMO.

Superb.

Good to see it being ridden. :)

Thanks :) I get most of them out on the trail. This one will probably see pretty regular action.

nice pics

One of the older buildings still standing down near Sunnybrook stables. Crazy nice weather in Toronto this week. Gotta enjoy the trail before the white stuff.
