The frame turned out to be the gem. I've been drooling over deoreo's MXZ and have been close to pulling the trigger in a couple of CSXs, but I am glad I waited. This was bought around 1991 and factory repainted in 1993 (and re-serial numbered). Than it sat for about a two decades, and was used by the original owners wife. It's dang near mint.

3.1 lbs for 1991 19" frame ... Insane.

I'll flip the original thing I bought for a decent $$$ ... Probably about as much as I paid for this whole lot. That's my usual MO. Try to keep it so this hobby doesn't cost me a cent of my actual wages. Otherwise I'd be homeless and divorced :LOL: I think a lot of us do the same.

The rest will find its way into builds or traded to fellow bike nerds.

Rainy day yesterday and nothing to really work on in the bike cave so I started messing about with the CSX

I'm debating about how to spec this thing. Here's the review of the CSX EMS from mombat. I don't think mine is an EMS ... Hope not actually ... CrAcK :shock:






After reading all that and doing some more research I think I'll go with a period correct and sensible weight weenies type build. I have lots of stuff so out came the scale and I started "weighing" the options starting with fork and seatpost.

Fork - 1 1/8"
Kona P2 with 145mm steerer -783g
Ritchey Logic with 157mm steerer - 777g
Tange Fat Blade with 215mm steer - 1131g
Brodie Gator Blade with 170mm steerer - 946g (not that I'd use it on this)
Cannondale Pepperoni with 160mm steerer - 737g
Rockshox Mag 20 with 175mm steerer - 1385g
Rockshox Mag 21 with 180mm steerer - 1593g
Specialized FSX with 165mm steerer - 1340g
Halson Inversion Fork with 210mm steerer 1623g
Scott Kent Unishock S with 135mm steerer 1475g

Verdict: the original bike came with a Ritchey Logic fork. Not the sexiest, but it's light enough.

Verdict: American Classic Ti: It's light and with the extra length a more structural sound option for only a few extra grams.
