1991 Gary Fisher Mt Tam with Rock Shox RS-1

Hi, any idea what this could be worth? Everything original to the catalouge spec, forks seems to be holding air well, even plastic cassette cover and stickers still present not totally NOS but in pretty nice condition. Located in central Europe.

This is a nice Gary fisher. However Gary Fisher sold the company in 1991 and i think everyone will agree it slowly went downhill every since, and not in a good way. If this was pre sale of the company it would be worth keeping.

Nice, thanks for your info, didn’t know it was that sudden change in craftmanship, thought it was more like Klein where after Trek aqusition it was still build by the same people for a while. Any way how to determine if its pre-sale by the serial number? Thank you

I read the early pre-91 Gary Fisher company was more of a boutique, producing less than 1500 bicycles per year. Not sure where your bike falls pre or post sale of the company. But i am sure you can research it. The bike you have is still very historic its the first Mt. Tam, and the first 'sold' with the looks like you have an original 91 front rock shox on it also. In 1988 Kestrel made the Nitro the first suspension bike, but a prototype and never for sale, They had a CSX rigid for sale in 1988. So you have one of the first suspension bikes for sale from 91 and very rare rock shox. Nice find.

Thank you for your knowledge and information, it is actually bike of my friend but i thought I will make a bit of research before he will sell it under or over value. (he is planning to sell it anyway)

The classic bike market is not like the classic car market, both have been around since 1800s. Some cars from the 50s and 60s can be worth 100k to millions. Most ALL bikes are worth fraction of what you pay for them, with the exception of pre wwII bicycles and very early bikes from 1900s. Your friend gary fisher is a future classic, you should buy it from him and hold it.

Absolutely agree with you, I have actually big passion for old cars which even surpasses the one for bikes. I was kinda tempted to secure the bike from him and sort out all the details even he cleaned it very well, unfortunately I already have few projects to finish or sell before I could aquire another bike.
