1991 Euro Marin Pine Mountain

Here's my euro-spec 1991 Pine Mountain.

Sourced via Swiss ebay from a lovey man who lives in the next village over from where my parents used to live.
He owned it from new, and has hardly ridden it due to having other more impressive bikes - and then sadly a motorbike accident.
He was genuinely really happy it was going to find a new home with someone who loves this era of Marins 😃

Other than the grips, all parts are original - including the inner tubes - he says.
It has been sitting in my parent's friends garage for some months, until they decided to visit the UK by car this week.

Took it for an initial spin around my local single track before work this morning ... which happens to be the mini MTB course on the Olympic Park 😂
Time for a few photos and then back in the garage. Feels a bit cheeky that I really didn't have to do anything to this bike other than tweak the brakes and pump the tyres...

There is something about these unspoiled finds that takes you back in time when you get hold off and ride one!

Really nice example.

If you get the time and want to, you can dissasemble, clean every part and put it back together. Then you would be left with a NOS Marin and the color will show even more!

Amazing find anyhow!

Thanks for the kind words - and yeah, it was a real find! Only thing is that with it being in such good original condition I don’t know if I’ll dare to really ride it properly 🫣

Good idea for the deep clean - would hopefully be a very meditative, zen-like experience. And I could do with more of that in my life 🙏

(Only thing is the original tyres have perished sidewalls and I fear if I remove them they will not go back on. I guess replacement tyres for a 34 yr old bike is sensible anyway! In that case would you go for the classic Smoke / Dart combo or something else?)

Also, right now I don’t have as much time as I’d like for bike tinkering due to the pressures of doing a self-build renovation of my house plus trying to run my own business 🫠

Cheers,
Joni
