1991 Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra

Dirt Disciple
So, discovered a NOS Corsa Extra frame in the LBS, and just happened to have a more or less complete Campagnolo Athena groupset from the late 90s sitting about, and decided that I really really needed something more comfortable to commute on... Decided to photograph it on my lunchbreak before it gets any muddier!

F&F EM Corsa Extra 1991 ish, red, 58cm
Wheels Campag Record (silver) on Open Pro CDs 32 hole, Conti 4 seasons
Campag Athena 9 speed groupset
3T 2002 Evol stem
3T Prima 199 bars
Seatpost is a Campag Athena one, probably a bit older than the rest of the groupset.
Saddle is whatever was lying around. Might stick a Flite Ti or Rolls on.

The frame has a bit of a bubbling from sitting around a slightly damp bike shop for 24 years, so this one's for riding, not looking at it. But it's more forgiving than my Klein, and lots of fun to ride!

Re:

From memory, there's a lovely pearlescent white Corsa Extra, slightly newer than mine, 54cm. There's also another red Corsa Extra, pretty much the same as mine, I think it's a 58cm as well. Those two are mint condition, never built up. Price? I could ask him for you, but google for their number, and ask for Ronnie, tell him that Andrew sent you!

Re:

Well done for finding this stash and one in your size, too.
Two more NOS Merckx frames - these are the stuff of dreams....

Your bike looks great. I used to have a Corsa Extra - one of the most stable, comfortable, confidence-inspiring bikes I have ever had. Having bought mine with chipped paint, off Ebay, I enjoyed it so much I decided to have it re-sprayed. I couldn't then bring myself to ride it and spoil the paint. Having had it sitting admired but unused for two years, I then sold it.

Thanks for the pictures and enjoy the ride....

David

That's a really nice Corsa you have built, it looks great. Good that you could buy a new one as well :)
The ride of these Corsa Extras is great. I bought mine new a good few years back now and its the number 1 machine for sure, others come and goo but it is still my favourite road bike of all time.
Wishing you many happy miles :)

Jamie
