1991 Alpinestars Ti-Mega - The update 23-01-12

I completely understand your pain!
I bought 20 days ago Alpinestars TI-mega , also this bike when I opened the box I discovered it was cracked at a weld.
I do not know if the seller was aware of it, I hope not!
however, we have agreed to a partial refund and I kept the bike!!
I will do it repaired by an expert welder and I definitely will keep the bike because it's beautiful!

this is my crack

I was nearly physically sick when Steve informed me of the crack, but tbh I just hope we can get this resolved and fixed with the minimum of heartache for Steve. I'm certain it wasn't damaged when it went into the box, I've even studied the for sale pictures taken just a day before and can't see any cracking.

I've opened a claim against the courier and we'll go from there. But like I say I'm more bothered about keeping Steve happy than the bike at this time.

ti mega

am gutted for steve, keep your chin up big fella and dont listen to the tosser,s who think they know best.i recently met mark at the turkey twizzler,we talked about orange prestige which i was riding and alu o,s.and a nicer retro rider i have yet to meet.i hope you two can get it sorted, and a happy new year to you both :D

OMG This is becoming a hot topic like the "Cunningham #1" posting

but this time we have two genuine guys who are having the world and his dog judge them and offering their opinions, for the casual observer like me its made for a riveting thread as we all know deep down most of us are destined for the same end at some point in time. . . If we continue to keep riding our old / trick frames

Debate is great, . . . . . but lets all wait for the guys to come to an agreement first as the pain I'm sure is still very raw

I hope to god no one is that morally bankrupt or insensitive and ask if it's going to be broken up for parts !

Bad newes

This is a truely awkward situation for all parties!
However strictly speaking and in the eyes of our English law, if the goods were sold "posted/shipped" then responsibility lies 100 percent with the seller, whether the goods were already defective or damaged in transit, it matters not. The goods should be returned for a full refund plus any other costs (shipping back etc)
May seem harsh, but any Judge in the land would rule this accordingly.

It is then up to the seller if he wishes to pursue costs against the courier.
Hope this is what is going to happen?

I see no bitching or judging, most of this thread is geniune distress at a nice frame damaged.
Some may have speculated on the crack but no one has pointed fingers.

Spot on there. Not sure what agenda people have when they see things that don't exist.

depending on how the couriers loaded the box,it may have had loads on top of it that may indeed created a downward force that could have cracked the frame.i deal with similar aspects in the construction trade and this should definetly not be overlooked. if the rear stay were not bridged there would be a compressable void to fill.

gutting to see this happen to 2 very genuine members.
