1990's Olmo Super Light build thread

Thanks. was my first time spraying a frame and I learned a lot. I have an 80s falcon fixie that I’m thinking of renovating next.
Looking forward to seeing your finished build..

It's nearly built but getting the bottom bracket cups in was extremely tough. It looks like there's no problem with the threads it's just in need of being re-faced because too tight.

I've phoned around local bike shops here in Lincolnshire but none have an Italian bb facing tool. I've ordered an extra long outer bearing cup spanner to give it one more try. If that doesn't work then the frame is off to Woodrup cycles up in Leeds as they were nearest shop I could fined via a phone call with an Italian bb facing tool in their workshop!

Did you try Fred James in Alford? Fred retired but the lad that has the shop now, inherited all his tools.. I’d be surprised if he didn’t have one.

Great project. I bought one of the same OLMO Superlight frames from Art-Bikes/Torino. Love your paint scheme and I'm anxious to see your completed build. Can I ask where you sourced your decal set? I'm just starting to plan my paint scheme and spec my build sheet.

Decals were from here:

Still have to get the BB threads re-tapped. Bob Jackson is the closest to me that have this tool (Leeds), so a 40 mile train journey.

But I might buy my own tool and re sell the tool.

You might have more joy with your idea of buying a tool rather than popping up to Bob Jackson’s as they closed this time last year! (Or are you thinking of the now owners of the name; Woodrup Cycles?)

Yes Woodrup cycles Leeds.

I think buying the tool is probably best.

Merry Christmas, and thank you for providing the source of your decals. I've actually bought from them in the past and with great results. As to Bob Jackson, it's great to hear that they still have an operation in Leeds. Back in the 70's our shop in Los Angeles (Bikecology) was (I believe) the biggest Bob Jackson frame dealer in the US. His son Howard Jackson worked with us at our flagship store in Santa Monica, and was a dear friend. Great memories from that period. Enjoy your build, I won't be starting mine for awhile. Too many others ahead of it. Cheers
