1990 Marin Team Titanium

This is the first time I have done a build thread before finishing the build on a bike, so bear with me.


History of this build:

My friend and riding partner benandemu who many of you will already know has an obsession with Marins and esp Titanium Marins.
Ben purchased a 17" Team Titanium from the states a few years ago, in mind to build a custom build using the highest grade of part available for 1990. Ben also had a 19" frame which was to be build using XT m732. I always said that I would take ownership of the 17" if it came up for sale. Following a visit to Ben's place the other month I ended up leaving with the Marin and several XT m732 items and other bits for the build. Ben had decided to go custom on the 19" frame and abandon the XT catalogue spec build.

Frame:1990 Marin Team Titanium-via Litespeed Nos (almost), 17” with U-brake (u-brake was supplied on small frames to avoid heals hitting the yet to become low profile cantis)

Stem:Marin lite steel
Handlebar:Marin Lite Alu
Grips:Marin Hex high density foam
Barends:Oooh no

Brakes:Front-Shiamano Deore XT m732, Rear-Shimano Deore XT m731 U-brake (should be m733 UII when I get one)
Brake Pads:Aztec pads
Brake Cables:Stainless
Cantilever cable hangers:Shimano correct for 1990 XT
Brake Levers:Shimano Deore XT m732 SLR 4 finger

Shifters:Shimano Deore XT m732 7 speed thumb shifters
Front Derailleur:Shimano Deore XT m735 Nos (to be replaced when an m732 comes up 31.

Iam dealing with spokes at present :?

It will be sick breaking in those rims, but that feeling wont last long once Iam out on it.
