After many other projects have pushed this one to the back of the queue, it finds itself towards the fore once more.
I took stock of what parts I'd accumulated and stored away. Then i decided to start the mock build using some old wheels and a set of old porcs, to get the feel.
I've not properly fitted the forks, as i'm just dialling in the height.
So to commentate so far, the forks need cutting down and a small Black headset spacer putting in between the Black logo-less King headset. The Ti Odyssey Svelte seat pin bolt is securing the series 1 Syncros post and first year Flite saddle that's had a recover. The NOS Syncros stem (needs lowering a touch) clamps some uncut Black Hyperlites. The Black Cook's cranks use a Ti granny with ti bolts and Black SR rings with Black alloy bolts. All this spins on an Action Tec Ti BB.
I need to trim the hoses on the Magura Hydro stops, and bleed them with new fluid. The rear brake fits the U-brake mount quite nicely.
I have to admit that I have put the XT rear mech to one side as I struggled to get the alloy pivot bolt back in place as the spring is so strong I did manage to swap the jockey bolts for Black alloy and the cage for carbon. Not forgetting the Ti clamp bolt too. The front mech is standard XT but will receive some lighter bolts as well. I am using XT rapidfire (push push) first edition shifters on this bike, but will have to split and service the 2 sets I have to find the best pair.
The wheels are being built with NOS Araya RM20's in Black with Black alloy nipples and DB DT spokes. The hubs are the first edition Ti Nuke proof. The cassette is Action Tec Ti and the chain is NOS HG90, still on its way from Germany.
I can't wait to weigh it!
Sorry for the low grade picture for the time being.
Here's another next to its younger brother for sizing purposes.
