Ahh - it's not you selling the X1 kit on ebay is it?

No, not me. The kit on the one I bought was in far better shape than that with barely a scratch on it. I bought it, removed the tyres and sold it on as it was.

Thanks for all the positive comments :D I'm now feeling a little nervous and hoping I can do justice to the build

A lot still to do but shaping up quite nicely so far. The Avocet Racing II saddle and 27.2mm XC post took an age to find.

Looking good bud. Did those decals measure up to the ones the fella with the cindercone had...?

Thanks Carl, I've not had a chance to check yet. Having a few problems with the Track 2's at the moment - the steerer is indeed internally butted so in cutting it down there is now a small issue with stem quill not going as far down the steerer as it should

Mmmmm, any ideas...? whats the external diameter at the base of the steerer, the part of the tube that fits into the crown.?

It's with a forum member who confirmed my suspicions so I can't check right now. The quill on the stem is very long...........

Re: 1990 Kona Titanium - Merlin Mountain content

I haven't seen it, but im guessing my first thought, swop out the steerer, or dependant on stem cut and shorten the quill, or machine the internal tube of the steerer... :|

I don't think machining out the steerer is an option I'd like to consider but Bren has checked the insertion on the quill and thinks it should be fine to shorten it a little. I know the Track 2's had problems with the legs holding in the crown and these forks certainly look like originals, which haven't slipped, so I don't want to tempt fate and mess with the bolts in the crown right now
