1990 Kona Cinder Cone, Yep the paint splat one

Retro Newbie
I am selling my 90 Cinder Cone 18"

As you may know this is a quality steal frame with geometry to die for.

Its got the original Project two's and I have had it from new.

First the original parts:
Frame & Forks
Suntour XCD, hubs, crank, gears, breaks
175mm Velocity Stem

Replaced parts:
Mavic 231 CDS (back is a bit egg)
Tioga headset
Tioga Bars
Tioga seatpost (this is a long post, for the periiod)
White Turbo seat.
Seat bolt.

New for resto.
XC pro breaks front and rear, with pads and cables.
X1 front Mech.

Almost new.
X-Press shifters where removed after a month, so are like new.
Also I swapped the granny ring at the time for a steel ninja ring.

The Bike is tired and needs a good shake up. I always intended to make a hell-of-a single speed commuter out of it, as the steel frame is mighty addictive (those Project Two's). It from the Joe Murray school of design.

This bike could benefit from a resto. But with the frame crack/ding/bend/rust free its a great start.

Two points. Having just sold my other great bike (mongoose motomag) on Radbmx, I had alot of emails from tire kickers. I listened to those people and help them out by breakingthe bike for parts, upon which most of my buyers pulled. I am not going through that again. So I wont break this bike up, its not worth the hassle.

Buyer needs to pickup or advise on postage.

Thanks

Fair point ta.

But... if someone wants it then they can just make me an offer, I will way up hassle of delivery and payment against value. That's the way I want to play it. Fair to say I am not a greedy person and I would like to see this be a project for someone.

I drive to Devon down M3/A303 once a month, so can do a drop/meet on route to Exeter and 20 miles beyond.

Chromoly is a mix of steel and alloy, and in the days of on-one and charge, steel is a term to differentiate from ali or carbon bikes. I sure all the folks on here know what there looking at so I did not harp on about the detail, other wise you and I could be splitting hairs all day.

Cheers

Nick

Nick,

can understand your reasoning but we do ask all adverts have a price - this helps keep things fair.

thread locked. Pm me when you know what you want for it and i'll unlock it.

£125 all in. We can talk postage/delivery in the detail.

I would require cheque/bank tranfure/paypal first though.

Thanks

nick

Hi Nick, regarding rame material, it was mentioned only so people didn't think it was the Tange steel of the 90 Explosif (for example.) Lots of different steel out there, and some prefer one to another, so it helps the buyer if they have all those details.

Nice bike by the way.
