So

Say 7speed STI 300LX, under gears, and 300LX with STI (under brake lever)

And

Says ST-M050 as mentioned before part of the 500LX set.

ST is the code for brake/shifter combined.

And this is how to set them up

Now looking at your pictures, your shifters are the STI with the lever cut off, look at the front part of the clamp.
If you look on them, somewhere, a shimano part nearly always has the model code on them.

wow you guys really know your stuff. I dont have a clue about what components and numbers are best. I just look at bikes and like or dislike.

So far i have found a set of the st-m050 levers that need a repaint and are missing one adjuster. I would assume i could use the adjuster from an gs lever as they look the same. Also i have found a set of ST-M320 but i guess they are for V brake. They are 93 exage LT. They are also white and im not sure they would suit shifters.

And you are quite right, ive just been to the shed and looked at the shifter mounts and the front of the original brake lever is missing, im also missing a screw out of the bottom of a shifter haha
