1990/92 GT avalanche and karakorum

Were these bikes/frame sets made in U.S.A. or Taiwan.....

All Karakorams were built in Taiwan, I think.

The earlier Avalanches were built in Japan (certainly 80s) but I don't know about the early 90s - probably still Japan?

The only steel GT frames I know were made in the USA are the cyclones/psychlones.

A "T" at the start of the serial number means it was built in the Taiwan-hodaka factory.

Not if your criteria is Made in USA is special and Made in Taiwan is not.

Not trying to offend anybody but made in Taiwan is a disappointment to me for higher end steel framed early mid 90's era bikes branded under a U.S. manufacturer. Maybe because most everything in the modern era is pretty much the same Taiwan scenario....

And just for the record I'm not bad mouthing GT's as I have a few Zaskars as well as Bontrager race and race lites.

I certainly wasn't taking offence, I just don't really understand focusing on where something was made ahead of the quality unless there's a personal connection with the location.

And to just clarify it doesn't have to be U.S made as there are quality steel frames bikes from different countries....
