Re:
Story so far: Acquired bike at a bargain price from top RBer Coomber on here. We met in a rainy Haldon car park. As it arrived:
I rode it round the blue trail in the rain. Was immediately smitten, but it obviously needs a bit of love. Some chain slip under load, brakes are not brilliant, BB is loose, pedals rough/dry.
Plan is to keep it in one piece - i.e. service and overhaul rather than a strip and rebuild. I have too many boxes of bits. A complete, rideable bike is better...
At home:
Chain's had it.
And I'll need to find some new caps for these before I think about a rebuild... I wonder if a crank cap would fit?
Cranks came off alright. But the BB is another story. Lockring off but adjustable cup stuck fast. Broke my favourite punch trying to tap it free. Time to finally pony up and buy the proper tool. Park HCW-4 here I come...
