I could be wrong, but I think it's a 1989 model.

thanks! you are right, I think it is a 1989 as well

the double seat was a special option that year

def leaving this frame original as-is... prob just replace seat, grips, brake pads, ect... just a rider =)

Nice bike!
Here is mine, with full Deore groupset, a pair of switchlades and (more recently) pink cateye bottlecages.
It's got a geometry ahead of its time, great on trails.
