1989 Overbury’s Tange Prestige Pioneer

Thanks @TimGeorge for posting. As the original owner, perhaps you’d be kind enough to share a bit of background on this bike? Personally, I’d be interested to know what drew you to Overbury’s in the first place? And what was the decision making process on going for Tange tubing? It must have been exciting to spec the bike to your choosing and with your own paint choice

Is the bubble wrap to protect the carpet, or the Overbury's?!* ;)

Gorgeous frames and really enjoying this thread, especially with the appearance of the original owner! How cool is that?

Good question! I think those photos were taken after stripdown when it was sold after Tim’s 30 year ownership. It passed through the hands of a couple of Retrobikers on here before I bought it.

Hi Simon , I like to be a little different is probably the best answer , Id been to a few MTB races watching my mate who had one of the first Cannondales… smaller rear wheel , and noticed the Overburys were good but never seen one for sale . I had a Muddy Fox explorer at the time that was a bit broken so decided to get a bespoke one for me that would last … and it did😂. The people at Overburys advised me on the spec , which was the best at the time , also a first for two fingered brake levers 😉.
My pals were probably the first MTBers in this area as they were wind surfers , which in turn lead to American MTBs in the sail shops . Great times.
Tbh was alot to pay for a bike then, wouldnt like to get into it now , silly prices .
My son works at Evans , he now has 6 bikes and is obsessed 😂
