Here's my new restoration to crack on with. It's an 89 Karakoram K2 in the 'galactic fade' paintjob. I always loved the 1989-1990 vintage GT's and am always keeping my eye out for them. The one here I got hold of is a decent example but had the fork and the stem missing. I probably won't build it 'to vintage spec' but will use my favorite vintage parts from this era (thumbshifters, etc) as I come across them (the one exception will likely be a pair of Pace RC35's I have kicking around from '92).
The paintwork on the top tube (particularly its underside) is a bit nasty or chipped. I was thinking of masking off the top tube decal and then sanding these out, priming, respray in the black and then finally lacquer. What are your thoughts on this ?
If anyone has any suggestions on the build, feel free to chime in.
