Cheers for the link. It sounds like mine isn't a 51.151 though... "In 1987 the classic bicycle, the ‘Francesco Moser 51.151’, which was named after his record, went into production. It was made of Columbus SLX steel and equipped with the Campagnolo Super Record and Triomphe series."
...Mine has Oria Special TT09 tubing.

It's not perfect but I'm happy with it for a cheap DIY job. I used Humbrol Matt Enamel paints, applied with a small brush (no primer). Then finished it off with spray on clear sealer. It looked terrible until I put the clear coat on though, you could see all the brush marks and the black looked a different tone, then after 3 coats of clear sealer it blended in nicely and looks fairly smooth. It will polish a bit more but I'm going to put the bike together first so I don't get oily fingerprints all over it.

Neat - that's worked well. Out of interest (having touched up my Ian May recently), what was your choice of sealer and where did you get it? Did you just seal the affected section, or did you bleed the sealer out onto old paint?

I think it was a Plasticote sealer (In a white can with silver top) It was the only one they had in Wilko so it wasn't exactly an informed choice, it did the trick though. I actually applied it over the whole frame to give all the stickers a new gloss finish too.

The remaining components arrived today so I have built the bike, it just needs a few minor adjustments, tilt the seat back a bit, set up the gears etc. But I've had enough for today, I'll do my final tweaks during the week and take it out for a ride at the weekend

I'm really pleased with the result, and most importantly it fits me nicely. I will change the saddle for a black one because it looks a little odd, but the Iscaselle Triathlon is very comfortable, they don't make seats like that any more :shock:

Soon after the last post on this thread I decided to change the stem and bars on this bike. I couldn't get a good finish on the old one (or couldn't be bothered) so I picked up a pantographed (butchered?) Cinelli 1R on ebay. It was advertised as 26.0mm so I also bought some lovely Cinelli top 64 ergo bars.
I was too hasty as always and I fitted the bars, levers, cables and tape, before holding them only to realise they weren't clamped tightly. So off it all came and it took a number of weeks to source these Eubios anatomic bars in 26.4 which, if I'd have read velobase, is in fact the size of the 1R stem :facepalm:
The saddle is a slightly older Selle royal Moser one that I bought from a forum member, although the brown colour is slightly off scheme it's an improvement on the Iscaselle and it's very comfortable. I may replace it one day if I see a black one, but other than that, this bike is where I want it to be. Nothing is perfect but that's how I like it because striving for perfection is futile. The important thing is the ride is absolutely amazing, I love the position and it has usurped my modern Fuji road bike to the extent that I just sold it yesterday.
