1989 Diamond Back Apex build

Big ups to Tootyred for sorting me out with this beauty and for so many of the original bits.
The frame is like timewarp condition, never seen one of these paint jobs in the flesh before only online which doesnt do these any justice!

Picked this up from my local Parcelforce depot last night...was like a kid at xmas unpacking this.

Roughly put together on a more modern xt mavic wheelset to see the stance.
i do have the original araya/dx wheelset also just needs a bit of work to get these rolling.





Will be re painting the stem as it dosent do the frame justice....if anyone has any Tbone decal laying about? hit me up




I do have some xt brakes/levers and crank from 1989 so may add these...not sure which way this build is gonna go? i do have a mint surly sunrise bars that would look awesome on this frame?

Anyhows time to get the polish out!

yes came up great! only a quick polish by hand....might go deeper another time to get more shine.

The paint at the seat tube Cluster looks like it is still liquid as it is. What do you use? I want some....

That’s the original paint..I haven’t even polished it up yet…it’s beautiful.
