Re:

I'm just enjoying the workshop tour! Lovely build, can't wait to see this one out in the sunshine.

Re: Our Jimmy’s lock down build - Concorde Astore 89?

That's going to be a nice machine when it's done.

Well you’ve seen the loft, the store and the workshop, you’ll have to wait till the end before you see the bike cave….

Cheers Allen…You sprayed that Claud Butler yet? ;)

As mentioned last night, the bottom parts of the rail clamps were very pitted with rust.

So after a night bathing in Evaporust I gave them a quick squirt of matt black acid etch, not having any matching silver grey. I think they sit well enough with the black rails of the Fizik Gobi XM (Our Jimmy wanted something modern with a certain amount of give)

Tyres arrived today, a tidy pair of 25mm Schwalbe Lugano’s… I’d read that these Ambrosio Super Elites were a little tricky to fit tyres to, but I had no problem with using just one plastic lever.

First crack at the cockpit cabling, tried having the gear cable at the back so as not to get the ridge under the palm from when the gear is brought over to the front, but Jimmy preferred the feel of the bars when both were at the front and recons he uses his purlicue more than his wrist when on the hoods. I’m happy with lengths and where the all important “Campagnolo” logos are… I think I’ll sleep on it. Oh and you might have noticed I’m sticking with the right hand lever operating the front brake, we are British after all……

It's in primer but I'm waiting for some hi build primer to arrive, the rear stays are very badly pitted so are going to need a lot of work before they look anywhere near good.

I've been roped into gardening and decorating duties as well but the weather should be warmer later in the week so I'll get back to it and post some pictures once it's got some colour on it.

Re: 1989 Concorde Astore “Team America”

Whilst we await the arrival of an Italian threaded freewheel Jimmy & I thought we would make ourselves scarce and have a crack at tidying up the other end of the hay loft above our workshop, (the other end that I don’t show in photos) and we stumbled across some tyres I had completely forgotten about… a NOS set of Clement Evolutions no less. :D

For the unfamiliar, they are like tubes but they fit clincher rims….. no glue, no mess, just 13c at 100psi with most importantly, no rolling off of the rim!

Why didn’t they catch on? Might have something to do with how bloody hard they are to fit!

But they do look the nuts!

Re: 1989 Concorde Astore “Team America”

Looking very special. I'm liking how it's all coming together to look very much as it would have been. Certainly looks the business.

Cheers Jamie,
Only problem is, I have a feeling my Majestic tourer might just struggle to keep up with it!
I have a feeling another road build might be required… eeny meeny miny moe ;)

Re: 1989 Concorde Astore “Team America”

Beautiful 8 speed NOS Regina “America” with Italian thread date stamped 1992 arrived today along with appropriate chain.

Fits like a glove and with a few washers managed enough clearance as well (just)...

But now of course the wheel needs re-dishing…

Gap is 5mm so I've got to find 2.5mm, might leave that for tomorrow as the sun is still out and I can hear a beer calling… ;)

Re: 1989 Concorde Astore “Team America”

Well I couldn’t let it lie, could I? I wouldn’t have got any sleep…… ;)

Ready for cabling tomorrow if I’m not hit with a job list…

Some of the more eagle-eyed amongst you may have spotted the Biodinamica bottle that Jimmy nabbed out of my stash! (He’s been advised photo shoots or rides with me only… it’s not for when he is mucking about with his pals)
We already nearly had a disaster as he’d popped it in the dishwasher!!!! Only for Mrs Peachy to nearly recycle it thinking it was a washing detergent bottle!!!!!!!!! 🤦 IMG_5337.jpg IMG_5339.jpg IMG_5340.jpg
