1989 Brave - Warrior build thread

I’m not great at documenting/posting my build thread details. Get too caught up in what I am doing and my bike stand working area is in a poorly lit basement. As this bike is entered in the January BOTM, I did want to wrap up this Brave Warrior thread with some build highlights.

The bike/paint are so unique I wanted to stay a little conservative on and focused on black components including:

NOS Shimano Deore XT - M730 crankset with Black Chainrings, M732 Thumb shifters, M730 BB, M732 Brake levers, M734 Black Cantilever brakes, M735 Front & Rear Derailleurs and thanks to @Atmos some beautiful m730 pedals.

After some education from @Tomato it was clear this bike needed Bullseye hubed wheels. I was able to track down a really nice clean, used set that came off a Trek 8900 pro. Added an nos

Found a really nice used, black Ritchey FD seatpost and an NOS black synthetic suede Mundalita saddle

Set of NOS America Classic water bottle cages.

Thanks to @Tomato i was able to acquire this amazing Brave Warrior frame. 1989 in a bottle for me, takes me right back to my youth. Been working on the build for awhile and thought I’d share some pics. I’ll get some more details added soon. Just pulled mine (#74 1990) out of the garage attic in January too! Spent some time & $ and now it looks and runs like new, including the Manitou

Entering the Brave Warrior in the August "Steel" BOTM and its had some transformation since I last posted so thought I'd add the details here. Ended up using the Bullseye wheelset on another bike after I found these killer NOS CR16 Sun rims on Sovos hubs from a nice seller in Canada. They're the identical purple/pink color of that on the bike. Once those were on, it felt like it was a perfect set up for the Wild Grippers. Changed the saddle to a nice turbo too. Poster bike for me right now.

As for the Steel frame, I took a magnet to the "steel" bikes I own-Japanese, Italian and multiple notable US builders and none of them sucked the magnet like this one did. It was a serious Clank, I think you might be able to hang this bike from a magnet so that is why I wanted to enter it in BOTM.
