1988 Team Stumpjumper

Yes, the Team had Prestige (heat treated, very thin) cro-mo, lugged and built in Japan. The comp was tig welded cro-mo frame made in Taiwan. Same XT group (unless you went for the optional Browning electronic front shift on the Team - (not sure anyone did …)) Comp also apparently had a slightly slacker head tube angle. The ‘88 colours are gr3at across the range.

btw: are you sure that yours is 1988?
Because same color scheme was also used for 1989. Just the 1988 bike had the iconic Browning crank while 1989 they have just used Shimano.

or was the Browning stuff really just optional?
unless you went for the optional Browning electronic front shift on the Team

Frame-wise, is there any obvious or significant difference between 1988 Team Stumpjumper and 1989 Stumpjumper Team (in the text anyhow also called Team Stumpjumper)?

You should post an advert in WANTED if you want to try and track down some original Specialized toeclips & straps. Lots of RBers have stuff stashed away. It probably also came with a Specialized carbon cage too. I posted an advert and got a bottle cage for my 1988 Hardrock that had one originally fitted thanks to the lovely folk on here. If you don't ask, you don't get.

Living in Italy makes the RB buy/sell section a marvellous hassle because of taxes and incredibile import fees…🥲

There’s people from everywhere on here. I’m in the UK, but have bought items from US, Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy etc. on here. Wouldn’t have thought the fees in Italy are worse than the fees we now have in the UK thanks to Brexit! 😱☹️
