Hi Everyone,

Just thought i'd share this as it's been rather an interesting build, due to the fact I have limited experience and knowledge of U Brakes. This has taught me a lot in how robust they are but their rarity in comparison with Canti and V Brakes throws up new challenges for me, especially as they're 'old tech' in reality.

The main issue I had was routing the RD cable, plus sourcing U Brakes due to it being purchased without any. This was sorted with comparible ease with the assistance of hunspecialized, whom, in my hour of need, came up with exactly what was required.
Other parts were sourced from keepitsteel, d8mok, mynchiboy, and mk one to name just a few. There are others but the fact is without their help this project would never have got off the ground.

I managed to sort the RD cable issue with a little 'mod' I devised using an old canti cable hanger that smoothes out the routing almost perfectly.

I've gone for Sti's mainly because I find them easier to use, plus they match the chainset being Alivio.

I'm still seeking a Deore 2 RD to put the finishing touch to the build, but the STX mech works just fine until one surfaces.

I do like old Saracens, just need an 89 Tufftrax in blue now ;)
