Yes, the SS-5 is a favourite of mine, I went with the all black version and think they suit the build, a bit of artistic license taken

Great work as usual Dave. That's my kind of build; keeping things simple with XT and let the frameset do the talking, but with some considered choices, such as the XC9000 pedals and the Scott/Matthauser brake pads. Top job

What an incredible restoration, I know its the same bike but I can hardly believe it was in such rough shape compared to what we see here.

I couldn’t be happier myself with the outcome of this build.

My ideas and build planning have evolved a fair bit the last few years being heavily influenced by the many great builds on this forum along with the different opinions of my local riding buddies.

I can’t wait to throw a leg over this beauty again Sunday, it’s supposed to be sunny

First good length ride today, beautiful sunny Vancouver weather too

Riding buddies broke out their romax’s for a proper “romax ride”, my #278, Ryan’s #279, Roy’s #227 (late 1987) and Vintageman’s splatter beauty, we figure an 89’ romax with the curved gatorblade

I really love the way it rides, well balanced and smooth. It just fit’s like a glove.

Initial shakedown rides have been fantastic, next is to head out and hit some proper single-track, stay tuned….
