1988 Brodie Climbmax

Thanks Roy for sharing some Brodie catalogues. Attached are scans of one Roy had photo copied. Not sure of the year but pictured frames look around 87'. Kinda confirms my climbMax is likely Tange 4130 MTB tubing.

Maybe someone can upload this to the Brodie catalogue section

I few minor updates, would say she's now done:

- Swapped the black bulge handlebar for a shim bar (slightly longer at 57.5cm too)
- Maxxis Ultralight tubes saved close to 100g off
- Alloy dust caps for the XT cranks
- Frame tubing decal
- Nice set of XT M732 canties still with SLR decal
- Found an alloy stem bolt cap that fits 😁

Been out a few times now and absolutely love the way she rides

Love it  Dibs on the jerseys if you ever sell :)

Wonderfull. Good to read a thread about a bike that gets ridden in joy. Question: does the older wider canti brake better (power and modulation) than the compact later geometry?

In my experience I'd say they feel very similar. Note that on this build I'm using original (old and used) XT branded pads, I was surprised they still feel as good as they do. All in all though I don't notice much difference between power/modulation compared to the next gen lo profile canties

Thank you for the feedback

A few recent changes: Canadian flag decal, NOS XT seatpost, velocity lower rise stem and XT quick releases.

I love the XT post, kinda the cherry on the top for me, the Interloc was nice but way too new for the build.

I also love the switch to the velocity stem. Lower rise and thinner profile, a prefect place holder until I find a Brodie stem.

The XT quick releases are pretty heavy but who cares? They just look right

I’d say it’s done unless I’m lucky enough to find a brodie stem or a gaterblade. No easy task but will be keeping my eyes open
