1988 Brodie Climbmax

Mini update:

There was some paint left over and now it's on my Zefal frame pump, think it came out pretty well

I'm going to try my luck entering it this months BOTM, what the heck?

Some new shots taken at my trailer in Birch Bay
That´s the look, brillant! Great that the colour matches so well.

I think the Tamiya paint is fantastic to work with and the glossy finish doesn´t need a clear coat (except for UV protection maybe).
How was the drying time for you? I´m asking because I´ve done some repair work on my frame and gone quite thick (5 layers) and while it doesn´t smell anymore, it´s still a little soft after 3 weeks at room temperature.

Thanks @Dr Dremel!

Also, thanks for steering me toward that Tamiya paint

I think you are correct that the dry/cure time can be long. I've treated the painted area of the pump as if was still drying since Saturday to be safe not letting it rest on any other surfaces.

I have handled the paint though and think it may still be a little on the soft side. The outside edge of the brodie chainstay where I used this paint in May is well hardened though. So it will harden eventually, maybe a few more weeks?

Ok, that´s what I hoped. In the test pieces I did last year I never looked at the time the paint needs to cure/harden. So I presume it´s just the thick layers I did (to have some meat for polishing/blending).

I chucked the frame in my car today and drove it in front of the garage to "bake" it over the next few days. Should be pretty toasty in there as we have a nice end-of-summer heatwave right now. Let´s see how this works out ...

Love the use of your car as a curing oven! 👍💪😍
