Great stuff.
So it has a Sakae Ovaltech chainset, Shimano AT-50 brake levers and front cantis, Shimano Deore MT-60 U-brake, Shimano MS-55 SIS thumbshifters and a Shimano L531 rear mech.
Only thing missing is good shot of the front mech which I suspect will be a Shimano Z204 or Z206.

It all looks to be all original apart from the bars, tyres, pedals and grips.

I'll move this thread to the Readers MTBs --> 1997 section.

Here is the front mech. I think I replaced the grips way back, but the bars and pedals are original. I bought it brand new in Sept/Oct 1987.

Your bars are from around 1995 or later - they simply didnt exist for when you bike was built!

I must have replaced the originals then for some reason, I know I changed the grips, can’t remember the bars it was a long time ago!
