1987 saracen tufftrax FINISHED

Re: 1987 saracen tufftrax

wee update

shifters were stripped and the mounts given the stonechip treatment

front brakes, headset and bb came up well after brief clean and brasso

as did the rear

most the parts ready and waiting, wouldnt mind polishing some more but itll get blathered next week more than likely so a reeeeaaaaaly good polish can happen ready for next years iconoclassic

next job is to sort a grease gun, strip the wheel hubs for a service, find my stash of cables and sort some amberwalls. i have some miss matched ones but im not entirely happy with them......wish i'd bought shawnb's panaracers before he left last weekend, d'oh!

Been busy of late but managed to squeeze a few hours on this at weekend, all finihed bar a shake down ride. very very happy with this and just proves with a little bit of love and elbow grease, you really can polish a turd haha

Re:

Great work! Couple of questions :)

1. What did you use to clean and polish that up so nicely?

2. Is the rear 7 speed? Would have thought it to be 6 speed but you have DX / MT62 thumbies. If so did you convert the freehub or are tge wheels not original?

cheers dude. i used g10 auto finishing compound and then some poorboys polish/wax. a few more goes over would have been awesome but i was happy with 2 passes of this. itll get muddy very soon anyway, if ive still got it for iconoclassic next year ill do the frame a few more times

wheels are later exage 7 speeds, they aint the originals but came with the bike and although 6 speed uniglide would be ace, cant justify the money for a nice set, besides i had loadsa stuff kicking about to save money and time.
